Jeffrey von Kienast started High Point Retirement because he saw how many retirees were left guessing when it came to their income, investments, and taxes. “My goal in establishing this firm is to give people a clear, step-by-step path through retirement—with income that lasts, growth without unnecessary risk, and a plan that keeps more money in their pocket through tax efficiency. I also believe legacy matters, so we work to make sure our clients can pass on their wealth to family in a way that’s smooth, intentional, and tax-smart,” Jeffrey says.
With 11 years of experience in the financial services industry, Jeffrey is licensed in dozens of states, and works with retirees directly, as well as leading a team of advisors throughout the US. “I started out as an insurance agent, helping clients protect their families and build tax-free legacy plans. After seven years, I joined Prudential Advisors as a captive advisor, became securities licensed, and began helping people with broader financial needs. I did this for three years, before going into the independent space,” he says. “That’s when I completely changed how I approached planning. I realized I could help clients not just grow their money, but structure it for retirement income, protection, and long-term efficiency in ways I never knew were possible.”
Jeffrey is clear about his vision for High Point Retirement. “When I meet people, I tell them that our firm was built on collaboration—not ego. From the beginning, I never wanted to be the smartest person in the room. I wanted to surround myself with people who were experts in their fields—advisors who live and breathe income planning, investment strategy, and wealth preservation. While my personal expertise is in tax planning and building tax-efficient retirement strategies, I knew our clients deserved more than just one perspective. That’s why I built a firm made up of specialists—each one bringing years of experience and mastery in their area. The part Jeffrey enjoys most about his career is helping people move from uncertainty to confidence. “I’ve seen firsthand what happens when there isn’t a plan—and I never want our clients to experience that fear. When we build a strategy that gives them income they can count on and the freedom to spend without worry, it’s more than financial planning—it’s life planning,” he says.
Jeffrey grew up in Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho, and currently resides in Westfield, Indiana. He attends Traders Point Church in nearby Carmel, Indiana, and his faith is truly the foundation of his life. His dedication to community springs from that faith. “I believe it’s crucial to give back to the community you live in, and the more involved you are, the more you appreciate it. That’s why I’ve been coaching our local softball team in Westfield. I think it’s vital to invest in our children’s future, and I’m very fortunate to spend time mentoring these young athletes. My goal is to help shape and encourage them to grow into confident, strong young women who believe in themselves both on and off the field,” he says.
Outside of work, Jeffrey enjoys staying active and spending time with family and friends. “I’m an avid golfer, I train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I love coaching softball and skiing whenever I get the chance. I’m married to my amazing wife, Jenny von Kienast. She’s been the rock of our family: a compassionate mother, a loving wife, and truly a blessing in every sense. We’re proud parents of three wonderful daughters—a blonde, a brunette, and a redhead—who keep life full of energy and laughter. Rounding out the family is my best buddy, Shephard, our 110-pound German Shepherd, and his sworn nemesis, Lenny, the cat. They’ve agreed to a peace treaty of sorts—each ruling their own floor of the house and respecting the other’s territory.”
